Country Fair Murder a BIG Success!

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our Country Fair Murder Mystery evening on July 19.  Twenty-seven would-be detectives observed the suspects, recorded evidence, and analyzed clues in an attempt to track down the murderer of Daphne Templeton-Kendall, the village of Delby's most prominent citizen.  For those of you who have been following our posts, Tiffany Chatsworth is the culprit!

Seven people managed to guess correctly that Tiffany, Rodney Templeton's new bride, was the only person in Delby who had the knowledge, opportunity, and motive to put together a sinister plot to get rid of Daphne AND to protect Rodney's substantial inheritance from his own stupidity.

We all had a great time with our program and look forward to our next mystery evening this winter!  Stay tuned!

The Radicalization of Reading

A patron recently recommended this fascinating article by Eileen Wittig:
https://fee.org/articles/the-radicalism-of-reading/ (from FEE  Foundation for Economic Education).
If you love to read, you'll enjoy this short history of how it evolved as a popular pastime.  Believe it or not, there has been a lot of controversy over the years about the "evils" of reading!  Here's an excerpt:

"Reading novels could even make a woman uppity and encourage her to disrupt the status quo – the horror! Some went even further, warning that reading novels would cause insanity and even death."

Thank goodness we are living in the 21st century!  Read on and prosper!

The Country Fair Murder is Almost Here!

Adeline Beckett was one of the last people to see Daphne Templeton-Kendall alive at the Delby Country Fair.  Daphne's constant demands for adjustments to the gown Adeline was creating for Daphne to wear to the Thanksgiving Gala were starting to wear on Adeline and her business was suffering.  Could Daphne have driven Adeline over the edge, or is something else on her mind?
