Internet & WiFi

We are still investigating problems with our Internet bandwidth and, believe us, we are just as frustrated as you are!  We still cannot pinpoint the REASON for our sudden slowdown, but we are in the process of finding a solution.  We are hoping to add more bandwidth temporarily (until we upgrade to fiber early next year), but we need to purchase the necessary equipment and then cross our fingers and hope that it works as we think it will.

In the meantime, we hope that you will bear with us.  Our goal is to provide the best service possible and we regret that we are unable to offer Internet to the public at this point without compromising our ability to provide our basic library functions.  We have great hopes that the problem will be fixed within a week or so.  We are so grateful for your patience and hope that all of our regular PC users will know how much we want to see them back at their keyboards again!

New Books Hitting the Shelves

Check out these new titles just out today!

More Internet & WiFi News

We wanted to keep you up-to-date on our Internet and WiFi issues, which are still unresolved.  We are working with our consortium, Internet provider, and an IT specialist to try and determine why our bandwidth is being topped out on a regular basis,  This situation makes it difficult (and sometimes impossible) to check out materials and to do our jobs efficiently.  Right now we still have our public computers and WiFi turned off in an effort to minimize network activity, but we are hoping that both of these vital services will be available again soon.

We appreciate your patience and support while we solve this problem.

Internet & WiFi

For the past few days, we have been having problems with our Internet and WiFi due to system generated updates and human-generated downloads that have been overtaxing our small bandwidth.

We are happy to announce that these issues have been resolved for the moment.  Public PCs and the Internet are now available for use and we plan to reinstate WiFi on Monday.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.

We expect that before 2018 these problems will be alleviated (keep your fingers crossed!) when we convert to fiber optic and have much more bandwidth available.

Nelson DeMille

Nelson DeMille Quotes:

Somehow our devils are never quite what we expect when we meet them face to face.
We're all pilgrims on the same journey - but some pilgrims have better road maps.
If everyone howled at every injustice, every act of barbarism, every act of unkindness, then we would be taking the first step towards a real humanity.

DeMille's latest is a stand-alone novel, "Brilliantly written, expertly paced, and told with his signature wit."  Maybe it's time to check out something by this prolific American author.

Patterson & Karon

James Patterson, surprisingly (😕) has another new book available and Jan Karon has added another wonderful story to the Mitford series.  These are all spoken for at the moment, but you can place a hold!

WindsorLocksLibrary.org on Your Mobile Device

We are not at all a "high-tech" library because we prefer face-to-face human interaction, but we like to think that we offer enough up-to-date online features to appeal to most people!  You can register for a library card online, download e-Books and audio books, access databases, etc.

Our statistics show that over the past 3 months about 34% of visits to our website were via mobile devices, yet just 12 people (out of 1318!) utilized the mobile version of our site!  We thought that perhaps you couldn't see the button on our home page, so we created a newer, bigger one and put it right smack in the middle so you can't miss it.

All of the major web links on our website are available directly through our mobile site (and much easier to see) and most of them are available in the mobile-friendly format, so next time you're searching on your phone, why not check out windsorlockslibrary.org/mobile.html for less squinting and easier tapping?
