Murder at the Manor House

The Windsor Locks Public Library will present an interactive murder mystery evening on Wednesday, March 7 at 6:30 PM.  Trenoweth Manor, a British estate fallen on hard times, is the setting for Murder at the Manor House.  The final planning session for the 13th Annual Cotswold Women's Gardening Expo is meeting at the estate's newly established conference center and everyone is excited to be the subject of a BBC documentary on the annual event.  The documentary, however, exposes many fissures in the supposedly harmonious relationships among the committee members, so when the body of snobbish co-chair Lavinia Dawson is discovered buried in the award-winning rose garden there is no shortage of motives or suspects.

Participating "detectives" will follow the trail of clues through "documentary" footage of the Expo committee and videos of family, staff, and committee members reacting to Lavinia's murder.    Will you be able to determine how the crime was committed and identify the murderer?  Join us for an evening of murder and mayhem at Windsor Locks Public Library!

Registration is required for this program due to limited seating.  Please call 860-627-1495 to reserve your spot or register online at www.windsorlockslibrary.org.  The Windsor Locks Public Library is located at 28 Main Street.

Snow/Ice Closing

Due to employee and patron safety concerns in the weather predicted for today, we will be closed.  If the storm does not pan out as predicted there is a possibility that we may open later in the day, but only if driving conditions are safe.  If we do open later we will announce that on our website, Facebook, Twitter, and this blog.

In the meantime, stay home, relax, take a nap, and read a good book if possible!

Cookbook Club

We are planning to start a cookbook club this spring!  What is a cookbook club, you ask?  Each month we will choose a cookbook from our collection to feature.  Club participants will each choose one recipe to try from that cookbook (it will be available at the desk) and bring in enough tasting portions to our monthly meeting for each cook to sample.

We will be featuring all sorts of cooking styles and tastes, including vegan, gluten-free, Mediterranian, seasonal, heart-healthy, desserts, salads, etc. As you choose your recipe you will mark the page and title with a post-it note and we will provide a list of all of the tested recipes, along with the title and author of the cookbook, for all of the participants at each meeting.  If you like what you taste you may just want to try more new recipes yourself!

We will be posting information on our website as our plans develop. Please email epearce@libraryconnection.info if you are interested in participating or need more information.  We are looking at the possibility of Monday evenings to meet, but we haven't finalized a time yet.  We are looking forward to this exciting new club and hope that many of you will, too!
