Windsor Locks Public Library is pleased to offer our members an array of virtual services for their reading, entertainment, and information needs. Residents who do not have a library card are invited to self-register at
http://windsorlockslibrary.org/. Our temporary library card will allow you to download ebooks and audiobooks from Overdrive, Freading, and the Connecticut State Library's RBDigital collection, place holds on books, movies, and music to be picked up after the library reopens, and access Consumer Reports Online, Novelist, Issues & Controversies, Indie Flicks, Great Courses, and more. Within 60 days the temporary card can be converted to a permanent library card by visiting the library at 28 Main Street with your picture ID and proof of address.
Library staff has been busy providing content for our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Parents and children are invited to join Miss Jane and friends for online stories and crafting on Facebook and kids page at https://wlpl.weebly.com/daytime-events.html. We also have lots of virtual tours, online games and puzzles, trivia questions, local history, pet pictures, updates on library services, and more fun things on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WindsorLocksLib/. Please comment and let us know what you think! If you spend any time in the kid's room you'll recognize Bob, our friendly stuffed gorilla, who has been spotted making use of the library and gallivanting around town hoping to run into some of his friends. Some of his adventures are recorded on the library's Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/windsorlockslibrary/.
Even though the library is currently closed to the public and cannot lend physical materials, we are here to help.in any way we can. Please use the CONTACT US link on our home page for reference questions, inquiries about books or your library record, or just to say "hello." Please place holds, because the current best sellers WILL be available when we open. The book drop is available and is being emptied on a regular basis, so you can return materials that you no longer need. Your items on hold are still waiting for you and we will contact everyone about picking up these holds once we are open to the public again. We are looking forward to seeing all of our loyal patrons when this stay-at-home order lifts and COVID-19 is less of a threat. In the meantime, please stay healthy at home. We miss you all!
