A New James Patterson Book (Surprise!)
Just wanted to let you know that James Patterson's latest has just been released. Yes, this does happen frequently (at least 4 times a year!), but we know that his diehard fans want to be informed. We have 2 copies, so the wait shouldn't be too long!

Frustrated by Hold Limits in our Online Catalog?
As I am sure most of you who regularly place holds know, a 5-hold limit has been in effect for a few months. The purpose of this limit is to reduce the number of items being sent through our delivery system, which theoretically should speed up delivery of the items that are being sent (Uh, huh!). The problem has been that many things that people want to place on hold are NOT being sent from another library but owned by the library where they will be picked up, which obviously means that they will not have any impact on our delivery system.
Library staff can override the hold limit for items that are to be picked up locally, but until now you have had to call or email us. to have those holds added. Starting this week you can access a Request Holds Beyond Limit form in Encore, our online catalog, fill it out online, and Submit your HOLD request. Library staff will place your hold and contact you when our hold is available. Remember, you only need to use this form if you have 5 holds on your record already. Here is what the form looks like:

This form is intended for patrons who have reached the 5-hold limit, but would like to place additional holds for pickup at the owning library. If the library designated for pickup owns a holdable copy, library staff will add a hold to your account.More New Books!
We are sorry to have been a bit silent for the past few days. It's been a busy time here at the library and we are short-staffed at the moment, so please bear with us and continue to visit the blog! We're still putting out new books on a regular basis, and here are some of our latest additions:

New Books!
Hi, everyone. Wondering what's new to read? These are just some of the new books available today in our NEW section!
Author Laura Bradford
Mystery author Laura Bradford presented a wonderful program in our community room on Wednesday night. During the course of the evening, she discussed the possible future of both her Southern Sewing Circle mysteries (written as Elizabeth Lynn Casey) and her Amish series. Researching this series is one of Laura's favorite activities and with every trip to Pennsylvania's Amish country, she discovers new and intriguing details about the Amish people.
Laura also has 2 newer series, The delicious Emergency Dessert Squad mysteries (the second book, Silence of the Flans, just came out on March 7) and the Tobi Tobias Ad agency series. The Tobi Tobias series is a new direction for Laura, not in writing, but in publishing, since these books will be available primarily as e-books. Printed versions are also available on demand.
For those of you who may be wondering, by the way, Laura considers Winnie Johnson, the heroine of the Emergency Dessert Squad mysteries, to be the most like herself!
Laura will be venturing into new territory soon, the fulfillment of a long-time dream, publishing an Amish women's fiction novel in 2018. We will all be looking forward to reading this next year, and to seeing what other great projects Laura has in store for us in the years to come. And of course, we look forward to having Laura back next spring for her annual visit to Windsor Locks Public Library!
