Library staff can override the hold limit for items that are to be picked up locally, but until now you have had to call or email us. to have those holds added. Starting this week you can access a Request Holds Beyond Limit form in Encore, our online catalog, fill it out online, and Submit your HOLD request. Library staff will place your hold and contact you when our hold is available. Remember, you only need to use this form if you have 5 holds on your record already. Here is what the form looks like:

Frustrated by Hold Limits in our Online Catalog?
As I am sure most of you who regularly place holds know, a 5-hold limit has been in effect for a few months. The purpose of this limit is to reduce the number of items being sent through our delivery system, which theoretically should speed up delivery of the items that are being sent (Uh, huh!). The problem has been that many things that people want to place on hold are NOT being sent from another library but owned by the library where they will be picked up, which obviously means that they will not have any impact on our delivery system.
